Teaching Plan
The curriculum that is applied in Supang and Buenavista National High School is called Kto12 (Kindergarten to grade 12). This curriculum is made by the Department of Education in the Philippines. The materials that are delivered to the student have been determined by the curriculum itself. So, therefore, I believe that the best choice to learn, practice, and deliver the materials there is by following the Kto12 curriculum.
I made the teaching plan based on the teaching plan that was given to me. I look at my CT's teaching plan as an example. The teaching plan, it was divided into six parts; Objectives, Content, Learning Resources, Procedures, Remarks, and Reflection.
Basically, the lesson plan that I found from my Cooperating Teacher in Guimaras is not that different compared to the plan that I learned in Indonesia. They have objectives, content, resources, methods, procedures, and reflection. One part that I would like to highlight here is the procedure, the procedure in the Indonesian Lesson Plan usually breaks into three big parts; Opening, Main Activity, and Closing. For the lesson plan in Supang and Buenavista National High School, the Procedures (especially in Science) are divided into five parts; Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. For the steps inside the plan, I find that is not that different, just the way divided it.
For the lesson plan that I made while preparing the practice teaching, I followed the format that I got from my cooperating teachers. As for the engaging parts, I planned a quiz bee by doing a group activity before going to the main part. After that, the students will get a paper that contains a picture of 'The Smoker's Body' with some disease information and their explanation of it. After some time given to them to discuss the disease, I would call the leader of each group to deliver about some diseases that have been discussed by their group. For closing the class, I would elaborate on the materials that were given to them by delivering some questions that could make them realize how dangerous smoking is to their bodies.
In the process of making the lesson plan, I learned a lot of things from my Cooperating Teachers. For instance, in order to determine the method that I would apply in my procedures, I need to know the characteristics of the students, and I also asked how my Teachers usually work with the kids to make them cooperative with us. They told me about every detail that I needed, so after that, I could make my lesson plan well-prepared and got so much confidence to confront the classes.
